After graduating from college at The Citadel and working in various departments such as marketing, hospital administration and customer service, Terry then became a police officer with the Cincinnati Police Department, where he was a SWAT Hostage Negotiator.

Terry has also started a school security consulting business and coached high school girls basketball in Houston.

Terry has gone through great adversity in his life when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Acral Lentiginous Melanoma.

He was treated at the world-renowned MD Anderson Cancer Center, and had to take weekly injections of the drug Interferon for almost 5 years.

Terry is now cancer-free, and has written a book entitled “Sustainable Excellence, Ten Principles to Leading Your Uncommon and Extraordinary Life” to help people find and live their uncommon and extraordinary life.
