About Angela Parkinson

I started my business when l was 21 with nothing.

When l was 19 l left a small village to move to the city 40 miles away, in an old car belonging to my mother which broke down which l lived in, in the winter in England for 3 weeks, with 5 pounds in my pocket for food and used that weeks salary to pay for food for the next 2 weeks before finding a cheap room to live in. l went through this because my vision of being a photographer in a big city and have my own print machine exceeded the pain of the frozen car and no-where to go.

Everyone told me it wouldn't work and to keep the job l took, but l had that business for 28 years. l spent the first 14 years in the UK and then moved to New Zealand for 4 years with my family, picked up where l left off, then return to the UK and continues to take pictures until l was 50.

Technology changed the game so l traded the markets and eventually this lead to my get involved in Acquisitions, which lead to another company that wanted help buying businesses but l left to work alone after seeing the biggest problem owners had, and that was trying to sell with no systems in place. 75% of businesses on the market don't sell, the ones that do sell that is a much higher % of failure rates.

The ones with the lowest failure rate are employee owned businesses at 0.4% failure rate, which is why banks and family offices like to invest in them.

I have 2 son's in the UK and l live in the US.

Why Invite Angela Parkinson as a Guest?

I believe there is a way, where together we can make the world a fairer place to live without so much suffering, by sharing in our growth with new ideas and help the next generation live with more hope. I suffered a lot, a child with barely any food in the house, sharing 1 dress with my sister and my school time was the morning whilst hers was the afternoon sharing the same dress until my mother went to jumble sales to buy rags that other children didn't want. Shoes with cut out toe ends so our feet could reach the concrete because mum couldn't afford to buy new. I don't think l make people laugh but have some good stories from when l was young. I believe l inspired a lot of young people in acquisitions, to know there was more out there and to understand that they had more ability than they realize, they just need to dig deeper and believe in themselves.
