Why Invite me?
As a speaker, I can add value to a podcast by sharing my extensive experience and expertise in nonprofit management and capacity building. I can provide actionable insights, practical tips, and real-life examples that listeners can apply to their work or organizations. Additionally, my experiences as host of the nonprofit Horizons podcast, and before that of the nonprofit Espresso podcast, have given me a unique understanding of what makes for engaging and informative conversations, allowing me to bring high energy and enthusiasm to any podcast I'm a part of. What sets me apart is my 20+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, combined with my academic background and role as Associate Director and Academic & Outreach Programs Manager at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. My expertise spans a range of topics, from nonprofit research, management and leadership, and capacity building to graduate education, nonprofit finance, and fundraising. I've also worked with various organizations and individuals, developing many nonprofit community support programs, giving me a broad perspective on the nonprofit sector's challenges and opportunities. My unique blend of academic and practical experience allows me to bring a distinctive voice and perspective to any conversation. While I may not be a professional comedian, I am a warm and engaging speaker who understands the power of humor in making complex topics more accessible. I use this skill to connect with audiences and ensure that they remain engaged throughout the discussion. My primary focus is on educating and inspiring listeners, and I do so in an outgoing and casual manner that ensures they feel informed and engaged. As a teacher, podcast host, and speaker, I have had the privilege of inspiring and motivating audiences to positively impact their communities. Through my work, I have seen students and professionals become more confident and empowered to act, whether by starting and leading their own nonprofit organizations or simply becoming more engaged and informed citizens. My goal is always to leave audiences feeling inspired, motivated, and equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to make a difference, instilling a sense of empowerment and motivation in them.
