About James Weems

James Weems is a writer who has a unique sense of humor and a world of experience.

James graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts in English; he focused on broadcasting and creative writing while in college.

He has written several short stories and hundreds of poems, and has been published in his college literary magazine, as well as in the literary magazine published by an Atlanta group, The Unknowns.

Most recently his short story, An American Schoolboy in the Eternal City, was published in the anthology ROME: Centuries of Stories of the Eternal City, from Red Penguin Books.

James loves the beach and visiting favorite places like New Orleans, the Golden Isles of Georgia, the Great Smoky Mountains, and a return trip to Europe wouldn’t be bad, either.

He loves to cook and explore new dishes.

He also enjoys listening to a wide variety of music and watching movies and television shows.

James enjoys swimming—or at least splash around in a pool or the ocean.

When he’s not writing, James loves to read, watch favorite movies and TV shows by way of DVDs, and occasionally he plays games on his phone or computer.

James lives in Avondale Estates, Georgia, part of metro Atlanta, with his editor-in-chief cat, Angel.

Why Invite me?

My debut novel, Band on the Run: Phoenix Rising Book 1, will be published in April. BAND ON THE RUN is a sweet and mildly spicy gay alt-history rock star romance between two young men falling in love while their band tours on the cusp of Beatles-level international stardom. This is a charming addition to the genres of rockstar romances and queer historicals. The guys have a blast traveling the world together. (Content notes include homophobia and language true to the time period.) It’s a cheerful quick read and there’s a whole series on the way.
