About Sue Collins

My passion is in creating projects that directly benefit others.

As a co-founder of Moonshine Agency, I put my skills to work by producing, writing, researching and creating content that inspires audiences and motivates them to take action.

I seek out stories that have the potential for a positive outcome or a focus on prevention.

My latest work is the Conquering Cancer Campaign, a series of films highlighting global efforts to reduce the burden of cancer.

Conquering Cervical Cancer shines a light on the opportunity to eliminate cervical cancer globally.

Conquering Skin Cancer focuses on how we can reduce the rates of this preventable cancer and Conquering Breast Cancer is currently in production.

It's my first appearance onscreen, bringing awareness to these global health moonshots.

My past films have been acknowledged with many awards and have reached millions globally, shaped government policy and led to the development of several important social initiatives.

Notably Take Heart (2016) has grown from an impact film aimed at educating health workers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities about how to prevent Rheumatic Heart Disease, to form a civil society movement.

The focus is advocating for a fully funded prevention program to eliminate this deadly but preventable disease.

Deadly Heart, the sequel to Take Heart was released in March 2022 and Take Heart 3 is currently in production.

I've also produced impact films advocating for increased access to palliative care including Live the life you please (2023), Life Before Death (2012), Little Stars (2015), Hippocratic (2018).

My films have screened at the United Nations and Houses of Parliament around the world.

I travel extensively for work, including to Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, Italy, Greece, the UK, Ireland, India, South Africa, the USA and Canada.

I love to share knowledge and have produced The Documentary Filmmaker podcast for the past few years I've shared my experience in the film industry to help others learn about filmmaking, specifically documentary films.

This includes how to run a business and make, market and distribute your own films.

And everything that comes with this challenge.

I don't want filmmaking to be a cottage industry in Australia, I want it to be a thriving metropolis.

My Target Audience

Film producers and documentary filmmakers or business owners and entrepreneurs with an interest in communications, marketing and all things documentary filmmaking.

Why Invite me?

The work I do is unique. I've pioneered impact filmmaking in Australia and I travel the world to produce impact documentaries. Not only do the team at Moonshine Agency ideate new projects, we produce, market, distribute and create outreach extensions for the films we make. My approach to filmmaking is hands on and I've been doing it for over 20 years. As a business owner, I have learned how to turn the craft of filmmaking into a long career, no mean feat! And I love sharing that knowledge with others through The Documentary Filmmaker Podcast. Too many filmmakers are stuck in an outdated model for how to make films, and film schools do not teach business management. So this is my way of giving back to the industry.
