I’m Jonathan Karma—an author, technology executive, entrepreneur, husband, and father of six whose life has required more than one complete rebuild.
I grew up surrounded by poverty, addiction, violence, and instability, and lost my mother to a heroin overdose when I was fourteen. As a young man, my choices eventually led to incarceration and an 80-year prison sentence. During roughly eight years behind bars, I began changing the direction of my life through education, discipline, fitness, and technology.
After my release, I started over near the bottom and eventually worked my way into technology executive leadership, built a family, and created a life that once seemed impossible.
Then, in 2024, I suffered a massive brain hemorrhage. I fell into a coma and woke up with the right side of my body paralyzed. I went from leading organizations and providing for my family to a wheelchair, a walker, rehabilitation, and learning how to walk again.
So I rebuilt—again.
Today, I train six days a week, continue working in technology leadership, wrote my autobiography The Warrior’s Way, and founded vNET, a company focused on helping people and organizations transform.
I don’t tell my story because I believe hardship automatically makes someone stronger. I tell it because I’ve learned that even when you cannot control what happens to you, you can still fight for what happens next.
