Hi, I’m Mike De Socio! I’m an American author living abroad in Milan, Italy. My work is dedicated to liberating queer people through the power of art, storytelling and community.

With more than a decade of experience as a professional storyteller, I’ve excelled as a writer who can distill complex topics and thorny issues into relatable stories that empower audiences. I started as a high school journalist, then worked my way up through the college daily before hopping between roles in public radio and local newspapers.

I also work as a freelance journalist, and I’m the author of, “Morally Straight: How the Fight for LGBTQ+ Inclusion Changed the Boy Scouts—And America."

I also have a bit of a spicy side. Call me a free-spirit, or just a straight-up weirdo, but I infuse my work and my personal life with a pretty fearless attitude. When I’m not working, I’ve been known to ride my bike across entire states or summit treacherous peaks in the dead of winter. And just recently, I fulfilled my long-simmering dream of moving to Italy. (If you’re ever in Milan, come say hello!)
