Nationally recognized voice and leading expert in Mormon history, theology, institutional leadership, and the complexities of the Latter-day Saint faith. Nationally recognized voice and leading expert in Mormon history, theology, institutional leadership, and the complexities of the Latter-day Saint faith. Through more than a decade of podcasting, historical research, and public conversations, I have developed a deep understanding of Mormonism—not only its history and truth claims, but also the powerful psychological, emotional, and social forces that shape the lives of those within it.

Having served as a Mormon bishop before undergoing my own faith deconstruction, I bring both an insider's understanding and a critical, evidence-based perspective. For years, I have helped thousands of people navigate faith crises, religious deconstruction, spiritual trauma, and the difficult process of rebuilding their identities, relationships, values, and sense of meaning after leaving high-demand religious systems.

My work also extends well beyond Mormonism. I have spent years exploring human psychology, behavioral patterns, belief formation, cognitive dissonance, emotional conditioning, trauma, and the processes through which people experience personal awakening and transformation. As a certified somatic-informed trauma coach, I combine intellectual inquiry with an understanding of how our experiences shape our nervous systems, identities, relationships, and behavior.

I am particularly interested in why humans believe what they believe, why we defend those beliefs even when confronted with contradictory evidence, how institutions influence our thinking and behavior, and what it takes to reclaim personal autonomy and develop genuine self-trust.

This combination of historical expertise, lived experience, psychological insight, and trauma-informed coaching allows me to contribute to conversations far beyond religion—including cult dynamics, religious manipulation, personal growth, human behavior, critical thinking, identity reconstruction, relationships, and the broader journey of awakening to a more authentic and self-directed life.
