David McIlroy is a writer, coach and podcaster from Northern Ireland who helps writers and creators turn their words into a living.

He writes How to Write for a Living, a Substack publication with around 30,000 subscribers, and hosts its podcast, which has passed 100,000 downloads. He grew from under 200 subscribers to 10,000 in seven months, and now coaches other writers to do the same through his community, Catalyst Club, and his group coaching programme, Velocity.

He’s also the author of the YA fantasy series The Book of Uland and the horror novels The Substitute and Humbug. He lives with his wife and their dogs, usually within arm’s reach of a cup of tea.
