He served in Iraq as a U.S. Army ammunition specialist and later wrote *The Broken Mirror of Memory: Iraq and Other Tales*, a memoir examining war from the perspective of an ordinary enlisted soldier and the lasting effects of trauma on memory, identity, and recovery. He has appeared on *Coast to Coast AM* to discuss the book and his experiences.

Joseph speaks candidly about the parts of veteran life that do not fit neatly into a success story. His recovery remains an ongoing process, and he believes there is value in hearing from people who are still struggling, still serving others, and still working to build meaningful lives.
